CLS Lands Quick Change Liquid Energy Deal; Series Schedule Expands with New August Doubleheader
Torrance, California — May 4, 2026 —
The California Lightning Sprint Car Series is charging full throttle into the remainder of the 2026 season with a major new partnership and an expanded schedule. Series officials have announced that Quick Change Liquid Energy has been named the official energy drink of the California Lightning Sprint Car Series, presented by Motor City Buick GMC.

The high-powered addition brings an extra boost to the CLS marketing lineup, while club president Jon Robertson also revealed two newly added race dates that will keep the momentum rolling. The series will invade Visalia’s Plaza Park Raceway and the Lemoore Jet Bowl on August 7th and 8th for a summer doubleheader that promises plenty of lightning-fast action.

CLS: You made a big announcement with Quick Change Liquid Energy becoming the official energy drink of the CLS, and you also released all of the contingency sponsors for 2026. You have to be very happy.

Robertson: The California Lightning Sprints are proud to be backed by an incredible lineup of partners this season. Motor City Buick GMC leads the way as our series sponsor, and is supported by our associate sponsors, American Racer, Timeless Enterprises, R&R Racing, and our official energy drink, Quick Change Liquid Energy. And with a powerhouse of contingency sponsors behind our teams – ARS, BR Motorsports, CSI Shocks, Eibach, Extreme Mufflers, Keizer Wheels, King, Racing Optics, Racing Junk, Rebel Gears, Rod End Supply, Smith Titanium, Speedmart and West Evans – our racers are equipped to put on the best show possible. This program is only as strong as the people who believe in it, and we’re grateful for every partner who helps drive the California Lightning Sprints forward.

CLS: Quick Change Liquid Energy joins a power-packed lineup of marketing partners. How did that deal come up?

Robertson: Those guys (Quick Change Liquid Energy) came to us at Santa Maria. Their name is on every track here on the West Coast, I think. We are just happy to have them be a part of our series. They are helping us to be able to go to some of these other tracks that could not afford to bring us in. They are rounding out the cost. Every dime we get goes back to the racers. As a non-profit, the more money we get, the more cars we can drag in. Most of these guys would race if it only paid black eyes. It is good to be able to offer them some more money to help defray the cost. Especially nowadays.

CLS: The series also has 14 contingency sponsors. That is a very big deal.

Robertson: It is huge. Every night we race, there is over $1,000.00 in contingencies for the guys. It helps everybody. These guys (contingency sponsors) are showing support because this is all stuff we use. Every one of them is something these guys use.

CLS: Once a sponsor is secured, it is important for the club to represent them in a positive and professional manner.

Robertson: All of these sponsors have brought us to the next level of professionalism. They are all really great to work with, and they call me all the time. They do not take sponsoring the series lightly. It is a big deal. We are doing our best possible to put on a show for them and represent them well. It is like racing in front of your parents. You always do your best to prove to them that they are getting value for their money.

CLS: Let’s change gears and talk about the two races you just added to the 2026 schedule. It’s great news for both drivers and fans.

Robertson: It is really a big deal. Getting exposure on those little tracks will give the 600 micro people a chance to see what their options are for more racing. See what else they can race and what options are out there. A lot of those 600s (drivers) can run our series. It took us some time to work this deal out. We are really excited about it. They are Civil War Series shows with BCRA. It is great for the competitors to do them back-to-back as they (the tracks) are just down the street from each other. It helps everybody keep their expenses down by having them back-to-back (rather than separate weeks).

CLS: It’s more than just two additions—they’re premier tracks with strong followings. It’s a feather in the cap for the CLS to be racing on them again.

Robertson: They are great tracks to race on, and they expose us to other fans. These two tracks are like club tracks. It's not like the regular tracks where we get a lot of funding to go show up to. They just kind of run on a shoestring. Having Quick Change Liquid Energy come on board is going to help round us out so we can pay out the folks who are bringing their cars to put on a show. It allows us to have really great exposure and work with both clubs.”

The CLS returns to action on its home track, the Ventura Raceway, on May 30th.
