New Point
Leader Aiden Lange Leads California Lightning
Sprint Car Field Into Ventura Torrance,
CA — August 26, 2025 — The California
Lightning Sprint Car Series, presented by Motor
City Buick/GMC, will make its third appearance of
the 2025 season at Ventura Raceway this Saturday
night, August 30th. The feature will pay $500.00
to the winner. The driver to beat on Saturday is
23-year-old Aiden Lange of Lakewood, who has won
both CLS races at the beachside oval so far in
2025.
Lange entered last weekend’s
doubleheader riding a three-race win streak (he
leads the series with four wins) and sitting
second in points. That streak ended Friday when
Eric Greco of Palmdale captured the main event at
Plaza Park Raceway in Visalia. The next night at
Lemoore’s Jet Bowl Raceway, BCRA regular Hunter
Kinney scored the victory. Race stories on both to
follow.
Greco, who started the weekend with
a 77-point lead over Lange, left trailing by 19
after skipping Saturday’s Lemoore show to make his
first-ever IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car start at
Santa Maria. Greco will fall further back this
weekend as he is relocating to Idaho to attend
Boise State University and will miss Saturday’s
Ventura race. His seat in the familiar #8G will be
filled by his younger brother, Ryan, who will be
making his CLS debut.
Teenager Zate Legend,
last year’s CLS Rookie of the Year, comes into
Ventura third in the Motor City Buick/GMC
Championship standings, 68 points behind Lange.
Two other teen racers fill the next two positions,
with Drake Cardey of Riverside and Braydin Collie
of El Cajon holding fourth and fifth. Battling for
Rookie of the Year honors, they entered last
weekend separated by just seven points. Cardey
gained the upper hand in Visalia with a
third-place finish over Collie’s seventh. Collie
turned the tables the next night when he placed
seventh to Cardey’s eighth at Lemoore. Heading
into Ventura, Cardey leads Collie by 25 points in
the freshman class chase.
In addition to
the CLS, fans will also see Dwarf Cars, WMR
Midgets, West Coast Sport Compacts, VRA Vintage
Sprints, and Kids Classes in action at Ventura.
Spectator gates open at 3:00 p.m. with the first
green flag at 5:30. Adult tickets are $18. Seniors
(65+) and Military/Students with ID are $15. Kids
12 and under are free with a paid adult.
Ventura Raceway is located on the Ventura County
Fairgrounds at 10 W. Harbor Boulevard, Ventura, CA
93001. The track website is
www.venturaraceway.com, and the office
phone number is (805) 648-RACE.
After
Ventura, the CLS will get one weekend off before a
doubleheader of Civil War races with the BCRA. On
Friday, September 12th, the two groups will square
off at Bakersfield Speedway, followed the next
night at Merced Speedway. At Bakersfield, they
will be a part of the World of Outlaws NOS Energy
Drink Sprint Car show that will be streamed live
worldwide on DirtVision.
