The California Lightning Sprint Car Series Heads North to Visalia and Lemoore This Friday and Saturday
Torrance, CA — August 18, 2025 —
The stars and cars of the California Lightning Sprint Car Series (CLS) presented by Motor City Buick/GMC are set to head north this weekend for a doubleheader at Plaza Park Raceway in Visalia on Friday and Lemoore Jet Bowl Raceway on Saturday. The two shows will mark Rounds 8 and 9 of the 2025 CLS season and the first action since July’s battle at Santa Maria Speedway.

Leading the charge is Palmdale’s Eric Greco, who recently relocated to Idaho to attend Boise State University. Despite the move, Greco still sits atop the standings with a 74-point advantage over Lakewood’s Aiden Lange. Greco will be back in his familiar #8G this Friday at Plaza Park. However, he will be absent on Saturday as he’ll be making his debut in the California 305 Regional Sprint Car Series at Santa Maria.

That opens the door for a shakeup in the championship fight. Lange, who has been red hot with three straight CLS feature wins, is in prime position to strike. Behind him, a pack of hungry teenagers are in hot pursuit:

Zate Legend (Riverside) – third in points, just 25 markers behind Lange.
Rookie Drake Cardey (Riverside) – fourth, 95 points back.
Rookie Braydin Collie (El Cajon) – fifth, only seven points behind Cardey.

When it comes to wins, Lange has been sizzling hot in 2025. The 23-year-old has won four of the first seven races, including the last three in a row. The last driver not named Lange to capture a CLS victory was Jeff Dyer of Yucca Valley at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway on June 7. Earlier this season, two-time champion David Gasper and Greco also tallied wins.

Adding extra intrigue this weekend, Fresno’s TJ Smith will strap into Mike Schweitzer’s potent #41 entry, looking to make noise against the CLS regulars.

Both nights will pay $500.00-to-win, and $100.00-to-start, the main event. In addition, AG Sandcars/Triple X Chassis $100.00 Hard Charger Bonus will be up for grabs each night.
