SATURDAY’S
CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINT CAR RACE AT THE
BAKERSFIELD CANCELED DUE TO SATURATED CONDITIONS
(Torrance, CA, March 16, 2023)
Due to saturated conditions from recent storms,
this Saturday’s California Lightning Sprint Car
Series race at the Bakersfield Speedway has been
canceled. The CLS race will not be rescheduled.
”Keeping fans, teams, and the safety of
everyone in mind, we are forced to cancel this
Saturday night’s event on March 18th,” Bakersfield
Speedway management said in a release on Wednesday
afternoon. “For the second week in a row, the
tremendous amount of rain we have received has
created extremely saturated conditions on the
track, in the entire pit area, and the walkways in
the spectator areas. With a lot of race teams
traveling long distances to the Speedway for this
event, we felt it was appropriate to make this
decision now.”
“I’ve, looked at the
schedule and we don’t really have a place to add a
makeup show,” CLS President Jon Robertson said on
Thursday morning. “We’ll just have to write it off
as a lost event.”
The cancelation means the
next event on the CLS schedule will be on April
1st at Arizona’s Mohave Valley Raceway. On that
night, the CLS will once again team with the POWRi
Southwest Lightning Sprint Cars for round #3 of
“The Best of the West Series.” In addition, the
USAC/CRA 410 Sprint Cars will also be in action.
